Ninety-two years ago on the 17 September 1924, Bolah/Bhola Singh and his wife had this photo taken on the wharf at Sydney, New South Wales. The couple, from the Punjab, India were on their way to settle in New Zealand as Dairy Farmers. They were passengers on the liner “Marella” that had arrived in Sydney from Singapore and Java. Bhola Singh, a labourer lived at 21 Princes Street, Ponsonby, Auckland in 1946 and Onehunga in 1954 and there are other mentions of Bhola Singh in the New Zealand Archives for example: Bhola Singh aged 38, and his wife, arrived in New Zealand on the 23 September 1924 on the “Maheno,” however, their occupations was listed under Laborer & Domestic.
